Supporting Power Reliability with ComEd in Chicago
After being awarded a ComEd recloser supply contract in 2021, NOJA Power has continued delivering Reclosers and field service support for the growing fleet of NOJA Power OSM® Reclosers on the ComEd distribution network in Chicago, Illinois USA.
ComEd, or Commonwealth Edison, is a subsidiary of the Exelon Corporation, one of the largest electric and gas utility holding companies in the USA. Exelon is ranked 99th on the Fortune 500. ComEd traces its origins to 1881 among Thomas Edison’s electrical business ventures.
NOJA Power has supplied hundreds of their OSM® Recloser systems to ComEd since the contract award. The scope of supply included the OSM® 38 kV 303 series single tank un-ganged three phase units, paired with NOJA Power’s flagship RC-20 Recloser Control.
“NOJA Power is proud to be partnering with ComEd as they invest in their network to increase reliability with automation and installing our latest RC-20 control with synchrophasor capability ensures they are future proofing their network to be able to use big data to have better visibility and control over their network as generation sources evolve towards the net carbon zero future,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O’Sullivan.
Service and support in the USA is handled directly by NOJA Power’s American subsidiary team, under NOJA Power LLC. Furthermore, NOJA Power has periodically dispatched service staff to support with training and service from the Australian headquarters.
NOJA Power’s switchgear has been in service in the USA for almost twenty years, with installations on both the west and east coast. The increased volume of demand for NOJA Power products in the USA will see a continued investment in local presence growth.
