NOJA Power releases Voltage Dependent Overcurrent and Multistage Frequency and Voltage Protection for OSM Recloser System

International Electrical Engineering firm NOJA Power today confirms a suite of new protection and control features for their OSM Recloser with RC Series Control. Forming part of Firmware version 1.27, this release includes Voltage Dependent Overcurrent, Multistage Frequency and Voltage Protection, and Bluetooth Module support.

This firmware version is available as an optional upgrade for users of the RC-10 and RC-15 Recloser Controls. All new RC-10’s and RC-15’s manufactured by the firm will be shipped with firmware version 1.27, unless otherwise specified.

Voltage Dependent Overcurrent, ANSI Code 51V, offers Voltage Controlled and Voltage Restrained overcurrent elements. It is typically applied in generator connection applications. With the increase in usage of OSM Reclosers for Distributed Generation connections, the addition of 51V is a natural progression for the RC platform product evolution.

Following the theme of Distributed Energy connections, the incorporation of Multistage Frequency and Voltage protection into the OSM Recloser with RC Control System further expands the products’ capabilities in these applications. Multistage Frequency and Voltage protection is an emerging requirement for Renewable Energy integration. NOJA Power’s OSM Recloser and GMK products are both commonly used in this application, and the addition of multistage frequency and voltage protection furthers the integrated capabilities of the system. It further removes the need for additional relays and instrumentation in renewable energy connection projects, allowing the OSM Recloser to fulfil all protection and control requirements.

Bluetooth support has also been added to the RC-10 and RC-15 products, available as an additional Bluetooth hardware accessory coupled with the version 1.27 firmware version. This accessory is available from NOJA Power or your local NOJA Power Distributor.
